I will be performing a special one-off gig with a full band, comprising of three fabulously talented musicians: Lauren Deakin Davies on mandolin & guitar, Nathaniel Chapman on bass, and Zak Lakota-Baldwin on bodhran. We will be playing songs from my new EP 'Gold and Smoke', to coincide with its digital release, as well as some older songs. I'm thrilled to say I will be joined by special guest Emma Lohan and her trio, whose fantastic music will open the night. I'm so excited to have got these amazing musicians together, and to be able to perform the songs with a full sound that reflects their production on the EP. I really hope you can join us - it should be a fun night. Info: Tickets available (free for everyone who attended the Green Note EP launch gig) Venue: The upstairs acoustic room of the Betsey Trotwood Zoe Wren was the youngest performer to play the main stage at Folkstock Festival when she was just 16.

She is now a recipient of the 2017 PRS Lynsey de Paul Prize for emerging female singer-songwriters, and has been chosen for music agency Talentbanq's roster. Her new EP Gold and Smoke, called 'refreshingly bold' by Fatea magazine, is based on contemporary re-tellings of traditional folk stories, and will be released in February 2018 with Folkstock Records. Her debut EP Pandora's Box was released in 2014 and her previous single 'Nothing to See' received airplay on BBC Radio 2 on the Bob Harris show. Citing Joni Mitchell as her biggest influence, Zoe's songs explore unusual chord progressions in various guitar tunings, accompanying a 'crystal yet satin voice' (Danny Farragher, Folk All). Zoe has supported acts such as Fairport Convention's Chris Leslie, and was handpicked to open for Ralph McTell at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. Her growing reputation has seen her invited to perform on the Danny Kyle stage at Celtic Connections, and at Cambridge Folk Festival for Hitchin Folk Club, having previously been chosen to perform on Stage 2 in Brian McNeill’s Festival Session. She also holds a coveted London Underground busking license, and can ocasionally be spotted busking at pitches on the tube. This year sees the launch of exciting new Irish folk artist Emma Lohan . Based in London, in preparation for the release of her debut album Black Atlantic, Lohan has just completed a 10 day tour of Ireland and released her singles Serekunda and Wander Free from her forthcoming album. Both singles have been played on Irish national radio station RTE Radio 1, Resonance FM and Indie and More playlist . Atlantic-folk meets ethno-pop in this unusual but astoundingly beautifully unique music. Backed by a stellar 6-piece band comprised of horns, strings, synths and rich harmonies; Lohan’s natural, carefree approach to live performance is infectious, putting people at ease to let go and enjoy the moment. To experience Black Atlantic live is to be taken on a whirlwind musical trip that embraces her audience from the first note. With upbeat guitar licks, rich harmonies, honest lyrics and beautiful arrangements Lohan invites her audience to forget everything and just dance… and they usually do. “Emma Lohan’s sounds comes with beautifully ghostly swirls and elegant, sweet harmonies underneath the bonnet.” The Irish Times
