The second event in this Spring's line up sees novelist and poet, Joe Dunthorne headlining, with special faculty guest reader, poet and Creative Writing lecturer, Andrea Holland. Plus, the usual array of new talent from the UEA Creative Writing programmes. Joe Dunthorne is a graduate of the Creative Writing MA at UEA. His debut novel, Submarine, won the Curtis Brown Award, was shortlisted for the Wodehouse Prize and Commonwealth Writers Prize, and was long listed for the Wales Book of the Year and the Desmond Elliot Prize. It was subsequently made into a feature film, directed by Richard Ayoade. His second novel, Wild Abandon, won the Encore Award and was shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year 2012. His latest novel, The Adulterants, will be published on 8th February 2018.

Andrea Holland is a Lecturer in Creative Writing. As winner of the Norfolk Commission for Poetry her collection Broadcasting was published in 2013. Her pamphlet, Borrowed, was first stage winner of the Poetry Business Competition 2006. THIS WEEK: Thurs Feb 15th is the second UEA Live of 2018. Featuring our special guest faculty reader,Holland: Andrea Holland is a Lecturer in Creative Writing. As winner of the Norfolk Commission for Poetry her collection Broadcasting was published in 2013 (Gatehouse Press). Her pamphlet, Borrowed (Smith/Doorstop, 2007) was first stage winner of the Poetry Business Competition 2006. Her writing has appeared in journals such as Mslexia, The North, Rialto, Smith's Knoll, in Slanted: 12 Poems for Christmas (IST, 2014) and online at www.andotherpoems.com She won the 2015 Sentinal Literary Quarterly poetry competition and was runner up for the Troubador poetry contest (2016) and for the Mslexia poetry competition (2010) amongst other awards. She has contributed reviews to Poetry Review and the Poetry Archive, and continues to collaborate with visual artists on a number of commissioned projects, having a long standing interest in the relationship between writing and visual art. Also featuring headliner Joe Dunthorne and a host of UEA student writers.
