To Be Frank strikes again. This time we're back with our regular open mic, with an emphasis on newcomers and encouraging people to get involved. We have the outstanding Ife Grillo as our main headliner this month, accompanied by the fantastic To Be Frank regular, Pascal Vine. To sign up for the open mic just ask for a slot here on the event page, or send us a private message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. As always, thanks for your patience and we cannot wait to see you all again for another night of amazing, heartwarming, and occasionally hilarious poetry (plus a few special surprises this time around...) Pascal Vine: Pascal is a Creative Writing and Religions student at Bath Spa University in their final year. Their work is abstract, charming and keenly self-aware.

Touching on gender, disability, memory and nonsense, their sets often feature banter about whatever has flitted across their mind in that very moment. Winner of the January 2017 Milk Poetry Slam and featured as support and headliner in multiple nights across the Southwest. They are rather uppity for someone who's only been doing this for a year and a bit. “Deadly and nefarious…” -- Sam Grudgings “Vine’s poetry conflates comedy and commentary in a fittingly bewitching way.” -- Connor Macleod “Dank.” -- Sanket Shrestha. Ife Grillo: Ife Grillo is a 19 year old performance poet, musician and campaigner whose poetry focuses on finding the weird beauty in everyday life, social issues and what it means to be a young person in the 21st century. He was a Roundhouse National Youth Slam Finalist 2017 and the winner of Genesis Slam 2017. He was also a UK Hammer and Tongue National Finalist 2018 and won the Individual poet award at UNISLAM 2018. Outside of poetry, in 2016 he represented England at the World School Debate Championships where England won the world championships. He was Vice Chair of the British Youth Council between 2014-2017 and currently sits on the Youth Board of Young Minds UK.

If there's still a slot I know someone who has two thumbs and can fill it. His name's Two Thumbs Dave and he doesnt have Facebook so he asked me to request a slot on his behalf and also request no one questions the nickname. It's quite traumatic for him.
It's that time again loves, our Open Mic has been filled. If you haven't gotten a slot please come along on the night as there's still a chance we can slot you in if we can find the time (though sadly we can't promise anything). Have a great week.
