About the course Schools are held together by strong middle leaders both in curriculum and pastoral teams. Becoming a middle leader for the first time can be a daunting experience, especially without any training on how to manage a team or work with senior leadership. On this course, Summer Turner will share her experience, of being a middle leader and of managing middle leaders in a senior leadership team, to give insight about the strategic and operational aspects of successful middle leadership. Ranging from how to inspire a team through to data analysis and running meetings; you will learn what it means to lead and how to prioritise your workload. This will also be an opportunity to discuss successes and concerns with other middle leaders, enabling you to build a support network to sustain your development.

Who should attend? Secondary middle leaders who are new to post or those aspiring to be a middle leaderwithin the next year.  The tutor Summer Turner is subject specialist leader for English at the Inspiration Trust. She has spent the last eight years teaching in state comprehensive schools in London where she has held positions as head of English and director of teaching and learning. Summer recently published a book on curriculum and assessment design with Bloomsbury, and is a renowned speaker and blogger on curriculum, assessment, CPD, and leadership.
