Despite its relevance in the reconstruction, contextualization and understanding of Jung’s theories and their development(s), the study of the history of analytical psychology is an area of research which remained pretty snubbed in post-Jungian literature as well as in program studies at training Jung Institutes. In my presentation I intend to discuss some topics, issues and questions related to this, and also considering the Freudian historiographic tradition. To this-end I’ll especially consider one of the most complex period of Jung’s biography and also in post-Jungian historiography, namely Jung’s activity and statements during-the 30’s. Giovanni Sorge studied Literature, Philosophy and History of religions in Venice and Berlin. In 2010 he received his doctoral degree at the Research Center for Social and Economic History (University of Zürich) with a dissertation on Jung and the International Medical Society for Psychotherapy, based on extended archival researches.

In 2016 he presented the main collection of sources, deposited at the C.G. Jung Papers Collection at the ETH-Zurich. He worked as scientific advisor for the Eranos Foundation, is editor of the Philemon Foundation (with two forthcoming volumes), lectures at the C.G. Jung Institute in Küsnacht and collaborates with “Stillpoint Zurich”.

Good evening, this looks very interesting. Will there be live streaming available for those who cannot attend in person ? Thank you
