Waterstones presents the Lancaster Historical Writing Festival, celebrating the outstanding range of new historical fiction and non-fiction books with a three-day programme of events across the city centre. More commonly accustomed to writing historical fiction under the name of Anna Dean, Marian Veevers joins us to discuss her first non-fiction book, Jane and Dorothy. Jane Austen and Dorothy Wordsworth were born just four years apart, in the 1770s, in a world torn between heady revolutionary ideas and fierce conservativism. Join Marian, expertly placed as a guide for the Wordsworth Trust at Dove Cottage, as she compares their upbringing and education, home lives and loves, and their emotional and creative worlds. Marian will talk about the book before taking audience questions and signing copies of her books.

The event will last approximately one hour, not including the time taken for the book signing. Tickets cost £5/£3 for concessions and will be available to buy in store and online from 9am on Friday, August 11th. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
