Cyanotype is a form of light based printmaking that is more commonly known as ‘photographic blueprint’. It is an elemental process where paper is coated with a light sensitive liquid, and then exposed to sunlight or ultra violet light. An image or object is laid on the paper, then sunlight turns the paper dark indigo blue, leaving the image exposed ghost-like on the paper. There are many possibilities inherent in the process, and in this workshop students will learn to prepare the materials, set up images to expose, and use a lightbox to control the exposure. The focus of the day will be on experimentation, with students using both hand drawn and found imagery for their work. Tutor: Jo Richardson Cost: £85.00
