We will mix and match brazilian styles to give a broad base fro looking at different techniques of playing, the learn some breaks and fit the arrangements together with carnaval songs from all over Brazil.

At the end there will be a gig where we can wow the audience with our new skills. Background: The classes hosted by the well known Glasgow samba band, SambaYaBamba, run in blocks every tuesday evening. Tuition is by samba director Roddy Dickson and assisted by Doug Summers, both of whom have over 15 years of experience in the field and have played and studied in Rio. We aim to teach to Brazilian standard and cater for both beginner level and those with musical or drumming experience. So whether you're just in it for fun or have serious drumming ambition there will be plenty for you to get to grips with. There is also a very important social side to samba which is at it's heart a music of celebration. At the end of each block we try to arrange a gig to work towards, this is traditionally very well attended and anyone that has done it before will tell you, it's slightly nerve wracking but great fun. All instruments are provided. Please don't worry about turning up by yourself, this is completely normal and you will be welcomed in. It helps us to plan if you can ping us an email in advance to [email protected] to let us know you're coming. Classes are for adults of any age.

Hi should I book for a block of workshops or is it drop in? Thanks
