Either you've never tried it - or a host of hideous images spring to mind, of sticky £4 grape-water, of tacky labels and tackier contents. But real German wine is a true hidden gem - delicious, exciting and some of the world's very finest. This Tuesday at 7, come along to the University Wine Society's luxury tasting, hosted by Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, which will introduce you to the very best Germany has to offer. Eight white wines, all rieslings, from the three northern-most valleys of the Saar, Ruwer and Mosel, promise electric acidity, beautiful freshness and a complex, floral touch unmatched anywhere else.

We'll be ranging from the driest to the sweetest, culminating in £100 bottles of 2003 elixir, and there could be no better celebration of these titans of the wine world - your president's favourite variety around. Only thirty tickets are on offer - sign up now to avoid disappointment. No experience is ever assumed.
