Roger Hirst, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, is holding a public meeting in Southend after Christmas. Residents with an interest in policing matters are welcome to come along. As Mr Hirst is the first Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in the country, people can also ask questions about Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. The meeting is taking place on Tuesday, January 23 in the Jubilee Room at the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend, SS2 6ER, between 6.30pm and 8pm. Details of current crime trends and ongoing operations will be discussed at the meeting by a panel of community safety leaders which will include Mr Hirst, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Gardner, Chief Inspector Scott Cannon plus Group Manager Matt Hughes from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and a representative from the local Community Safety Partnership.
