CFF2018 | RESISTANCE Cornwall Film Festival returns in 2018 for its 17th Edition with the theme of RESISTANCE Cornwall Film Festival is a hotbed for talent discovery and a key annual event for emerging filmmakers to meet alongside eminent personalities from the world of media. The festival attracts passionate film audiences with an International film programme, masterclasses, speakers, director Q&A’s, as well as our own home grown talent. Where – The Poly, Falmouth Situated in the heart of Falmouth, The Poly is an arts institution that is a local hotspot and the perfect venue for an independent film festival. Having worked with The Poly for years, it’s a real treat to be able to return to the venue by popular demand for this, the 17th Edition of the Cornwall Film Festival, you’ll be able to find the full programme of events shortly or take a look at The Poly, Falmouth.

Our Short Film Competition 2018 is NOW OPEN Last year we were blown away by the incredible entries we received as part of our annual short film competition. Our scope reached further than ever before, putting Cornwall Film Festival on the international map. We also had a surge of entries from the West Country itself and ran an exclusive screening highlighting the best from the South West. We’ve teamed up with Film Freeway once again to offer a fuss-free way off submitting your short to the competition. As with previous years we will be offering coveted Cornwall Film Festival trophies for the winners of our categories, an award for Best Short Film & Best Student Film . The Best Short films and our student winner will be screened as part of our Official Selection at The Poly in November and the best local entries will be compiled into a Local Showcase. Timeline Opening Date – January 15th | Early Bird Deadline – April 1st | Regular Deadline – May 13th| Late Deadline – June 30th | Notification Date – August 11th Our Young Programmers award is NOW OPEN If you like £500 to create your own film based event? Apply now to win a Young programmers award for this years Cornwall Film Festival. The aim of this venture is to engage with the next generation of cultural ambassadors and help people aged between 16-24 to engage with British independent and specialised film, as well as helping to boost the reach of film titles and cultural engagement with young audiences. Entrants can be part of arts, youth or community centres and they can apply for a £500 grant for marketing and creating a film event.
