York Mansion House and Visit York invite you to celebrate Chinese New Year. Join us for an an array of workshops delivered by the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds and local artist Danny Ha to kick off the Year of the Pig in style. Workshop timings as below. More information on specific workshops will be published in due course. 11:00 Dining Room: Painting - Chinese Ink Freehand Brush Painting Danny Ha, is a Chinese ink painter, photographer and teacher, living in York. He has been joining exhibitions in Hong Kong, and conducting Chinese Ink Painting classes for years. He advocates the painting style of his teacher Professor Chau Hang (student of Professor Chao Shao-An) of the Lingnan School of Painting which emphasize on grasping the most obvious spiritual meaning called freehand brush work focusing on the personality and the cooperation of every element in the painting.  State Room: Tai Chi   12:30 Dining Room: Calligraphy State Room: Chinese Music   14:00 Dining Room: Painting - Pestel Nagomi Art Communicate with your heart and enjoy the present moment Pastel Nagomi Art is a form of art healing using pastels and fingers to create a gentle, soft and heart-touching art through simple yet unique ways of painting techniques.

“NAGOMI” is '和', which means harmony. Everybody, from young children to old folks, is able to paint a simple yet beautiful art regardless whether he/she is good in painting or not.  About The Artist – Instructor – Ms Sandy Chu Sandy is certified as an Advanced Instructor in Pastel Nagomi Art. She has started her artistic journey since 2013 and conducted classes on Chinese and Western painting.
