THURSDAY 29th MARCH 2018.. ALEX LIPINSKI + LOCKS FREE SHOW. LIVE AT RYAN'S BAR - STOKE NEWINGTON.. 181 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0UL ALEX LIPINSKI The first thing that hits you is the voice. Alex Lipinski’s caressing sympathy, full-throated resentment, and the raw rockabilly excitement of earliest Elvis have grabbed unwary listeners from the West Country to Krakow, Berlin and New York, since he first left Somerset to become a crucial habitué of Soho’s legendary, lost 12-Bar Club. He has followed in the footsteps of his hero Dylan to write in the Chelsea Hotel, and sung Elvis songs in the home of an admiring Liam Gallagher, who is a firm champion. Alex's latest album 'ALEX' has recently been released on Anton Newcombe's 'A' Recordings label.

Hailed by Newcombe as, “a young man surely worth my time and efforts. I appreciate his endless hard work and do it yourself ethics. Make no mistake, these songs have all the qualities of timeless music.” This solo performance coincides with the single launch of 'Hurricane', the second single to be released from the album. The B-side includes a version of the Hanks Williams classic 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry', recorded with his brother Adam Lipinski. "Lipinski comes across like a star in waiting - one who possesses immense patience with the powers that be - who lets his voice & playing speak for themselves" - Huffington Post "A killer album from Alex. You need this" - Rough Trade “Played and sung with such vigour and conviction it just sweeps you up and carries you along” – Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) www.alexlipinski.com Twitter: @alexlipinski1 facebook.com/thealexlipinski LOCKS LOCKS are a waits-infused, skeletal-blues, band based in North London made up of L.Geary-Griffin (lead vocal / guitar), Mike Byrne (double bass), Marian McClenagan (fiddle) and more recently joined by Andy Marvell on drums. After playing with a variety of different bands with genres spanning blues, rockabilly, trad Irish, celtic punk, indie and nu-folk they found themselves in a rehearsal room together writing parts of murder ballads involving burying bodies, strange creatures and dark family secrets. There is a subtle fixation on the darker, unnerving aspects of life and death whilst keeping a jaunty, roots based rhythm flowing underneath. Having just returned from the BBC Introducing stage at The Great Escape, these misfits are continuing to slyly pick their way through the musical undergrowth. Together they are mesmerising. LOCKS is set to release in 2018... Bodies (Radio Edit) — 7" vinyl and digital single; release date 13th April tbc Skeletal Blues — the debut album; CD/DL release date 4th May tbc with vinyl album release to follow "Mesmerising" Steve Lamacq BBC 6 Music "Nick Cave meets Tom Waits in a smoky after-hours whiskey bar" Chris Hawkins BBC 6 Music "Akin to the cinematic ghostliness of Nick Cave and Kate Bush" The Revue "Archaic rumbling folk-blues" **** Rolling Stone, Germany http://www.locksofficial.com Twitter: @thelocksband facebook.com/locksofficial
