Kingston Samaritans Information Evening Potential Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Kingston Samaritans. By volunteering with Samaritans you will help to make a real difference to others and you will also make a real difference to yourself. Samaritans have been a part of the local community for over 50 years with 201 branches across United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.  Samaritans' vision is that fewer people die by suicide they hope to do by actively listening on the telephone, in face to face situations, by email, by text and by letter. To be a Samaritans volunteer you won't need to have previous experience or qualifications but you will need to be open minded and non-judgmental.  If you are interested in volunteering with Samaritans, please sign up to one of our events on this page. You will have the chance to meet current volunteers and ask questions.

We look forward to seeing you there. For more information about us please visit our website http://www.samaritans.org/branches/kingston-samaritans  FAQs What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? Elspeth House is conveniently situated on the edge of Kingston town centre at the junction of Wheatfield Way and Palmer Crescent. It's just a couple of minutes' walk from the bus stops in Brook Street and about 5 minutes' walk from the stops in Eden Street and the Fairfield Bus Station. The Cattle Market Car Park is also about 5 minutes' walk away. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No - we will have the list of attendees available. Will refreshments be provided? Yes - tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on the evening.
What training is provided for new volunteers? All Samaritans volunteers are trained in the skills needed to equip them for their role as listening volunteers, and are assigned a mentor. The training will help you gain an increased self-awareness that you will be able to use in other aspects of your life. Listening volunteers complete a training course of eight 3-hour modules which takes place over several weeks.  How do I get in touch with any questions? Please email us at [email protected]
