Hidden Gems Photography Project

Welcome to the Hidden Gems project. Let me tell you a little bit about it...Hidden Gems is a photography and song-writing project that will work with local school, community and charity groups along the Liverpool-Southport, Southport-Wigan and Wigan-Liverpool lines. And Seaforth and Litherland has been picked. . The participants will work with photographers and visual artists to create a body of work that captures certain places of interest (the ‘hidden gems’) that are in walking distance from Seafoth and Litherland station. For example; sweeping seascapes,architectural/historical points of interest, areas of natural beauty, lively community centers, bustling town centers, and much more. After the three workshops are complete the work will be displayed in Seaforth and Litherland station.

Session one- The first session will be a chance for people to come along and share stories, pictures and known hidden gems in Seaforth and Litherland. People are encouraged to bring along old pictures and stories to share. We will decide in this session as a group what 'hidden gems' we will be focusing on. Session two-An experienced photographer will come along and teach the group all the basics on how to take a good photograph outside and how to work a camera. This is for all skill sets- beginner to expert, everyone is welcome. You are encouraged to bring any kind of camera that you have but some can be provided. Session three-We will meet at Scrapyard Studios and go together to the different hidden gems we have discussed. Whilst there we will take many different pictures as a group.
Final piece-A graphic designer will work with the old images and new images of our chosen hidden gems and merge them together whilst telling a story. The work will reflect and celebrate the diversity of the physical environments and the communities found along the lines, bringing previously undiscovered locations to both the local populations and those from outside.
