Sleep Away Camp Gather Green Week

Sleep away adventures that inspire and empower young folk to go on a journey of re wilding. Children experience true, off-grid living in style on this unique camp where children harvest and prepare their own meals from the surrounding organic farm guided by our talented and passionate natural chefs. Inspired by their daily outdoor adventures in the meadow, the farm and 10 acres of ancient woodland, children also learn how to craft and build using natural materials and create their own musical, spoken word performance inspired by their week’s adventures. The meadow based camp itself is a beacon of sustainability and creativity with its festival-style glamping set up for sleeping, solar showers and compost toilets plus giant tipis to host the children's workshops. Along with our passionate and vibrant team this is the perfect place for your child to learn and grow.

Full sleep away camp brochure here "I can't praise Louisa, Justin and their amazing team enough, for giving my children and I wonderful memories to treasure. She loved every moment of our overnight stay- delicious food, inspiring activities with a caring, enthusiastic team, comfy tent, beautiful setting. Every child ( and adult actually. ) needs a first hand experience. " "My son Will loved it. When I picked him up the first thing he said was " I am going back next year. " Read more reviews on our Facebook page here FAQs What are your adult to child ratios? The sleep away camp has a mximum capacity of 30 children split into 2 smaller gropups of 15 for the more focued activities. Our adult:child ratio is 1:8 which exceeds the OFSTED guidelines. How do you group the children? For activities such as cooking, harvesting and art and craft children are placed in age groups of approx 8-10 and 12-14.
The rest of the time the children work as a whole and our camp leaders know how to challenge the older children in that group. Is the site safe and secure? Gather Green is based within an organic farm that has a constant security prescence. Our plot is gated, clearly signed as private and not accessable by road. Two mentors sleep in their own tent next to the children each night and the camp director is on call 24/7 should there be any issue. What do you do in bad weather? Our tents are waterpoof and we have plenty of dry shelters within the meadow. In the case of the extreme weather we also have use of the nearby school for shelter. However it is unlikely we would have to use this option. How do you deal with homesickness? Combined with our small group sizes and our diverse programme of first hand experiences our team are experts at building a wonderfully warm atmosphere that settles children and allows them to bond quickly.
Can we contact our child(ren) while they are away? We find phone calls home can stop children getting on with the serious business of having a great time at Gather Green. However, as parents oursleves, we understand the need to know how they are all doing so we write a daily blog that can be accessed through our website and will feature stories, images and even recipes from your child's day on camp. What if my child doesn't like the camp food? With our trained natural chefs children harvest their own ingredients for the week from farm and cook their own lunch daily. This has a hugely positive effect on their eating habbits but there will always be some children who struggle on certain days. We deal with this by finding out what they do like and making sure they have a full stomach each day before bed.
