The Honey Bee and an Introduction to Beekeeping - evening sessions
These 1 hour sessions will be run by experienced beekeepers from the NSBKA. They are to give beginners an introduction to the honey bee and the basics that you need to know to keep bees. If you sign up to these then you must commit to come to all 7 of the sessions. The following topics will be covered; An introduction to honey bees and the beekeeping year. Beekeeping equipment. Manipulations – inspecting your hive. Managing your bees at different times of year. Natural history. Colony health and diseases. Beekeeping and the public. There will be a series of 7 evening classes on Tuesdays, 8:30 – 9:30pm. Starting on the 21st January running until the 3rd of March. They will be run by different people from the North Staffordshire Beekeepers Association who have a vast range of experiences and stories to tell.
