Textile Techniques

During this session led by Sally Uried and Anne Barclay, there will be three textile techniques for you to try out, Denim Recycling, Cheniling and Inkle Loom Weaving.  Anne explains "When skills, knowledge are coupled with a love for materials, colour, creativity and inspiration, you can produce endlessly unique and diverse results" Sally adds "I am passionate about exploring how to re-use material and design useful items". Denim is one of the most universally known, used and loved fabrics is the world.. Its cost in terms of its production is high, and its value should be recognised accordingly. Inthis workshop you'll look at ways of reusing, recycling, repurposing and reviving denim so we can value and use it again and again.' Chenilling uses 5 layers of old cotton to create a new and durable fabric.

Learn how to use a sewing machine and make a square of chenilling. Inkleweaving looms will be available for you to learn how to warp a loom and make a braid from recycled yarns.(Full braid takes 3 sessions) ---Ever harboured dreams of making your own pots?
