How Universities Businesses Foster Economic Growth

The Royal Economic Society Presents: How can universities and businesses foster economic growth? Universities provide world leading research and educate the workforce of tomorrow. They also produce technological innovation and support local and national businesses. This public debate will consider the role of universities and businesses in fostering economic growth in cities and regions and how they can improve their contributions to local development. Chair: Rachana Shanbhogue (Economics Correspondent, The Economist)  Panellists:  Professor Paul Cheshire (Emeritus Professor of Economic Geography, London School of Economics) Professor Stuart Croft (Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick) Rain Newton-Smith (Chief Economist, Confederation of British Industry) About: RES Presents is our series of early evening events on topical issues open to the public.

It offers the opportunity to engage in an in-depth informative discussion and provides a platform to show how economics can provide insight into public policy. Each meeting will feature a panel of speakers plus a chair, with opening remarks from each speaker and then a general discussion and plenty of Q&A. Venue: Lower Hall, Coventry Central Hall, Warwick Lane, Coventry, CV1 2HA (same as Methodist Central Hall) Map
