Becoming Mindful Mindfulness Beginners

In the four sessions, you'll become familiar with key mindfulness concepts, such as:- primary and secondary suffering, i.e., how our reactions to an unpleasant experience and can just make it worse,- thoughts and what to do with them,- negativity bias - why we more often see the glass as half empty. You’ll learn the core meditation practices: body scan, mindfulness of breathing and mindful movement and decide what works best for you. Mindfulness isn't just about sitting or lying quietly by ourselves and you'll learn a number of different techniques to become more mindful in daily life and, ultimately, to be more in control of your life and feel less stressed - responding to events rather than just reacting. The standard price for the course will be £75, but I offer 33% concessions for participants who are unwaged, receiving tax credits or full-time students.

You can also pay by instalments. I do not want to exclude anyone on financial grounds. There will be regular follow-up practice sessions through the Summer and I'll be running another 4-session course ‘Deepening Mindfulness’ in the Autumn for those participants who want to take mindfulness further. This will build on ‘Becoming Mindful’ and begin to explore ways to deal with challenging experiences in our lives. It will also focus on self-compassion and being kinder towards ourselves.
