Amy Johnson Talk Ann Beedham Sheffield General Cemetery

Come to a free presentation by Ann Beedham about legendary pilot Amy Johnson at the Samuel Worth Chapel Everybody has heard of Amy Johnson, the pioneering female pilot whose single handed flights pushed the boundaries of aviation in the 1930s. But you probably dont know that she lived in Sharrow, Sheffield for some time. Ann Beedham is an expert on the life and achievements of Amy Johnson and will provide an insight into her life and record-breaking achievements, sadly cut short by her tragic death during World War 2 whilst serving in the Air Transport Auxiliary aged just 37. Amy lived in Grange Crescent Road, Sharrow, south of Sheffield City Centre. So it is very fitting that this presentation is in the recently restored Samuel Worth Chapel at Sheffield General Cemetery, just a few yards from Grange Crescent Road.

The cafe in the Samuel Worth Chapel will be open for light refreshments, and attendees will also be able to view the Cemetery Trust's exhibition for Heritage Lottery Day which shows how local people working together saved the Cemetery and many of its listed buildings and monuments from abandonment and dereliction.
