Workshop: Tackling Knife Crime & Extremism in Schools - in partnership with Twitter, UK This is a free workshop hosted by ConnectFutures covering two hard hitting topics  - knife crime and extremism with expert speakers alongside a practical workshop delivered by the Head of UK government, Public Policy & Philanthropy from Twitter, UK.   The workshop is aimed at teachers and practitioners who are keen to hear specialist experts give their practical insights on a topic that's often regular headline news prefaced with the question "What can we do?"   Agenda: Welcome Empowering Young People to protect themselves -Let’s talk about Far Right & Islamist extremism  | Dr Laura Zahra McDonald  - Director of ConnectFutures. www.connectfutures.org  Short Film & Q&A: A personal story | Turning back from gangs and knife crime in Birmingham and practical choices for young people | Read his story: http://bit.ly/hezronstory | Hezron Brown, Trainer & activist  Teacher  & student perspectives | Making positive choices  in the classroom through character building with insights from two teenagers on what really happens on social media |Rebecca Tigue | Head of School, University of Birmingham school Key event| Twitter training | This will cover the basics of the platform which includes sharing resources with other teachers, using social media more effectively.
