Women Stand Up Comedy Workshop Manchester

Brand New Women's Stand up Comedy Workshop coming to Manchester  Have you always wanted to try stand up comedy but don't know where to start? Wanted to try performing a comedy character? Want to step out of your comfort zone and try something different? In this workshop you will be taught how to put together your first stand up set or character monologue. You don't need any experience of comedy writing - just have a interest in comedy, writing and being creative. This is also a chance to network and meet new people with similar interests to you. If you have got material you have been working on you can bring it along to try out and get feedback on. This material could be for stand up or character monologues.  You will learn what makes something funny, how to mine your own life for comedy inspiration and try performing.

In each workshop you learn; ✅ What makes something funny ✅ What it really means to 'write' ✅ How to bust through creative blocks ✅ How to generate comedy ideas from personal experiences and stories ✅ How to expand on ideas and subjects ✅ How to create something from nothing ✅ Improvising techniques ✅ How to perform on stage ✅ How to create characters ✅ How to create a story arc ✅How to get into the comedy world for performance or stand up ✅ What it takes to write a show or set ✅ How to tackle negative thoughts about not being good enough or starting a project ✅ Plus, you will get 1-2-1 time with me and get to ask any questions about the industry You will learn new skills, step out of your comfort zone, try performing your work and have a really good laugh.
The workshops are run by Jane Postlethwaite a multi-comedy award finalist who has had sell out runs of her one woman shows at Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals over the last few years. She has also been heard on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Cumbria and BBC Radio Extra.
