Healthcare Blue Light School Engagement Event

The health ansd social care providers in the North West and East of Cumbria are proud to present their 4th annual  Healthcare and Blue Light School Engagement event. The event will be held on site at University of Cumbria Fusehill Campus, between 10:30 and 16:30 (schools will be able to book on groups between 10:30 and 15:00 and students arriving with parents from 3.15 onwards) The event is open to students and members of the public who are intrested in exploring careers in health and the emergency services.  It is an opportunity to meet with staff working in healthcare and blue light services professions and educators across our organisation in the following categories to help them understand what they jobs involve and the career pathways to get into the profession. Allied Health Professionals (eg.

Speech and Language, Physios Occupational Therapists) Nursing and midwifery professionals Doctors, Consultants and GP's Healthcare assistants Dental professionals Social Workers Police Fire service Admin and Clerical roles such as HR, procurement Informatics  Domestic, catering and Estates Volunteers Apprenticships The partners involved are NHS in Cumbria Cumbria County Council North West Ambulance Service Cumbria Constabulary Cumbria Health on Call and GP surgeries Eden Valley Hospice Armed Forces Reservists Mountain Rescue The Educators supporting the event are: University of Cumbria Lancaster Medical School UCLAN Newton Rigg College Lakes College Carlisle College Supporting agencies Inspira LEP Centre for Leadership  STEM First As well as the main room we will also be offering educational workshops from our education partners that will run throughout the day and will be subject to availability.
We will try to ensure that each school has the opportunity to book on these. Teachers and career leads will be able to arrange bookings for workshops and vehicles on entry to the event.  Booking Information Schools who are organising group attendance will need to book a time slot via this event. We would advise Carlisle Schools to book in for slots in the afternoon and the schools in the West to book in the morning. The time slot is for your arrival time and to manage traffic through out the day. We would advice if students are wishing to partake in any workshops or tours of the emergency vehicles that you allow at least 1h - 1.5 hrs on site.  So we can manage student numbers effectively, please can the person booking also leave their telephone number next to their name so we can contact you to confirm numbers.
Where schools are bringing more than 20 please pruchase multiple tickets.Schools requring assistance with cost of transporting to the event please contact [email protected] to organise funding.  Any students who will be attending after 15.15 individually or with parents will not be required to book however please ensure you park respectfully on site at the University of Cumbria Fusehill Campus or the surrounding roads. The event is also open for any members of the public who also wish to explore a career in health from 3pm onwards   For further information please contact [email protected]
