York Food Drink Conference The Business Food Drink

MIY York Food and Drink Conference 2019 - The Business of Food and Drink   Friday, March 8th, 2019  Principal York Hotel Food and drink production is an essential part of our culture. As the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, the food and drink industry shapes our landscape and our way of life. It is fundamental to the UK economy, employing more than 400,000 people nationwide and contributing over £28bn a year from food and drink production alone. Combine this with agriculture, fisheries, food wholesale, retail and non-residential catering and the combined contribution to the UK economy is over £112bn. York and the surrounding area is home to one of the largest concentrations of food and drink producers in the UK, ranging from multi-nationals to an ever-growing number of specialist artisan makers and brewers who are all seeking to grow their business and take advantage of the opportunity this presents.

This year’s conference will focus on highlighting the opportunities as well as practical solutions to grow your food and drink business. Chris Stott, Partner and Head of Food and Drink KPMG UK, is back for another year to host the event and delegates will hear inspirational stories and case studies about how to take advantage of the opportunities and grow the business. Hear from the experts on the opportunities and how they took advantage, giving delegates insights into growing sales and scaling up. You’ll also hear from buyers on how to prepare for and present your product in the best possible way. Our small business showcase returns and you will hear first-hand from thriving companies who are stepping up to these challenges in their own unique way.  8.30 – 9.00 - Registration  9.00 – 9.05 - Welcome  - Peter Clinker – Make It York  &   Nestle  9.05 – 9.10 - Opening remarks  - Chris Stott  - KPMG  Session 1  -  Overview and Entrepreneurship 9.10 – 9.30 - F&D Overview – Ian Wright CBE – Chief Executive, Food & Drink Federation 9.30 – 10.00 - Keynote Speaker Andrew Keeble, Heck Sausages - interview and Q&A  10.00 – 10.20 - Keynote Presentation  - Yorvale Icecream Session 2 – Local Business Showcase 10.20 – 11.00 - Business Showcase Interviews –  Jonathan Curtoys, Sloemotion Gin - Harry   Baines, Love Cheese - The Grand Cookery School 11.00 – 11.25 - Break Session 3 –  Grow your business 11.25 – 11.45 - Preparing for Export – Stephen Noblett -DIT – Food and Drink Sector Specialist 11.45 – 12.05 - Beyond Supermarkets – The Alternatives – Liam Spivey – Business Manager  - Castle Howard 12.05 – 12.25 - Scaling Up – Karl Mason – Mason’s Gin   Session 4  - Expert Panel and Q&A Session 12.25 – 13.15 - Speaker Panel–  Chair, Chris Stott, Food and Drink Specialist, KPMG DIT, Castle Howard FarmShop, Heck Sausages, Mason’s Gin, 13.15 – 14.30 - Lunch and networking
