Monthly Entrepreneurs Meetup April

Starting a new business can be extremely tough (and lonely..). So, we’d like to invite you to our very casual monthly meetup open to all BSEEN entrepreneurs, past & present. This’ll be a chance to get together and get to know the community, see how you might work with other BSEEN participants, as well as just share your ideas/challenges/successes. This month’s Meet-Up welcomes the very talented Tara Tomes who is the owner and managing director of the East Village. Tara founded EAST VILLAGE in 2013 with the ambition of creating an agency that centred around a strong team culture and delivering PR with personality. In addition to running EAST VILLAGE, Tara also owns a publishing group that runs three business news websites – MBN Online. Tara sits on the Board for Colmore BID, the business improvement district for the city’s commercial quarter.

Tara is a member of the BID’s Place Marketing Group and of BPS Birmingham Future. In 2018, Tara co-founded Birmingham Sales and Events Forum, which helps connect sales and events professionals from across Birmingham’s hospitality sectors to encourage partnerships, collaborations, and the sharing of best practice. She is passionate about charity and is a founding director of homeless charity, Let’s Feed Brum; which provides hot food, essential supplies and friendship to those living on the streets.  This monthly meetup is also open to any current Aston/BCU/Newman or UCB students looking to find out more about what BSEEN can offer, talk to other entrepreneurially-minded people, learn and network. We’ll also be inviting along other members of the community, like mentors, University staff, alumni etc….
We’ll provide some food/drinks, you just need to let us know you’re coming. This event is managed by BSEEN (Birmingham Skills for Enterprise and Employability Network), a student and graduate start-up programme part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.  It is not an open networking event, so please do not sign up if you have no affiliation with the BSEEN project or the Universities involved.   It is a collaborative initiative between Aston University, Birmingham City University, Newman University and University College Birmingham. BSEEN is available to students studying at these universities and graduates within the last five years from any university, living in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP area.
