Welcome to TOWER OF SONG, the songwriters’ night with a different monthly theme and musical style to get your creative juices flowing, though you don't have to stick strictly (or even vaguely) to the theme. All we ask is that you note our NO COVERS policy...our cunning plan to encourage your songwriting. This month we invite you to perform (or come and watch others perform) songs written on the theme of THE PERIODIC TABLE, or in the style of SWING...or both. And any non-themed original material (no covers) will also be warmly welcomed. We are delighted to announce that our special guest (playing two or three mini sets through the evening) will be local virtuoso of fingerpicked folk, CHRISTOPHER BRAIN: https://www.facebook.com/ChristopherBrainMusic/ Doors are at 8pm when you can sign up for a slot, performances from 8.30.

Entry is free but we will waggle a bucket for small donations (which will all go to the sound engineer and guest artist) later. PA and sound engineer will be provided so just bring your own instruments and amplification if required. If you want an idea of what to expect (though we never really know until the night. ) the videos from the last event are up here: https://www.facebook.com/events/131644757471380/

Well I've just gone and booked another gig for that night, so that's an annoying clash, as literally every fucking thing seems to be these days, so I won't be there. I'm part of a group called Beautiful Dragons, who do themed poetry anthologies, and the one they did before I joined (so I'm not in it, obvs) is called My Dear Watson, and it has a poem for every element in the periodic table. I say this not to steal your thunder, but to potentially provide inspiration. You can find the book here:
Sorry, but I'll be about as far away as possible for this one, but to get your creative juices going, maybe try this, by They Might Be Giants...
