It is Post War Britain and the economy is in decline. ‘Merlot and Royal’ is a prestigious London bank set up & managed brilliantly by the recently deceased Robert Merlot. His playboy son, Merlot Jnr inherits the bank but lacks the experience to manage his father’s dynasty. With a somewhat tarnished public reputation, his position at stake and public confidence in the bank slowly diminishing, Merlot’s advisors formulate a plan to restore public confidence – they must find him a wife. And so they begin their matchmaking quest, but be warned, things are not always what they seem. The story presents the interlocking lives of characters that are worlds apart, and yet share so much. With an elegantly crafted musical score and witty lyrics guaranteed to have you both giggling and sobbing, this musical will take you on a beautiful journey of love, loss and discovery.

I present to you ‘Merlot & Royal’: The Bank that’s Best for You. Imogen Mechie wrote Merlot & Royal at the age of 15. With two original albums already to her name, Winner of the OpenMicUK ‘Future Music’ Award, runner up in the National Young Songwriter of the Year and now an Oxford Medical Student, Imogen brings ‘Merlot & Royal’ to Tingewick Hall for its debut. Be excited. Tingewick Hall is a theatre attached to the John Radcliffe hospital located on the ground floor of the Academic Centre near to the Main Entrance and University of Oxford Medical School offices. Parking is available in any of the hospital car parks. Tickets £8, concessions £6 Cash bar with reasonably priced drinks open from 7pm.
