We are ahead of Steve Cobby's dancing New Balance trainers here goes: we are going to give November's newbies a big PDT welcome. Starring our pals John Tree (Perfumed Garden and more) and Robin Walls. Plus some ambient support from our own DJ's Green and Love Eggs. Everyone. Meet Mr John Tree. Overaged music fanboy John Tree is flattered to have been asked to play at Psychedelic DiscoTech. Expect some deep, hypnotic, mind-expanding grooves, mixed with a drummer’s love. Best known as the head honcho of The Perfumed Garden stage at the BeatHerder festival, John has always been a bit of a polymath. Schooled in fine art, screen printing, photography and film making, he also started out in the ‘70s playing latin percussion, forcing his services on everyone from from avant jazzers Pinski Zoo, to Cuban fiddle player Omar Puente, post-punk extremists Ceramic Hobs to Tom Morley (Scritti Politti).

Community minded (up to a point), between 2008 and 2012 he was chairman of Poco Loco, Blackpool’s School of Samba, and also founded Tidal Beats, Blackpool’s community drum circle. In 2007, he co-founded community interest company BPM (Blackpool Promoting Music) which promoted minority interest music in the area. Since the mid-eighties he became notorious for his short run mixtapes, and latterly CDs ‘Mystery Mixes’, obsessively assembling, dissecting, and reassembling them til they were viewable from any angle. He has had several mixes featured on BBC’s On The Wire and Preston FM. Between 2012 and 2015, he hosted a regular weekly show ‘The Perfumed Garden’ on Blackpool-based dance music station Cowbell Radio. Over the years he has shared the decks with many great DJs, including Andrew Weatherall, David Holmes, Richard Norris, DJ Derek, Jerry Dammers, Unabombers and Norman Jay. Since 2000, he has sporadically produced and remixed tunes under the names The Time Flies, Pilzin Sox, and John Tree. Residencies The Perfumed Garden (Beat-Herder, since 2007) Dogs in Space (Solfest) 2008-2014 Fusion Fridays (Blackpool based world grooves night) 2007-2010 Other Festivals: Glastonbury, Bearded Theory, Musicport, Garden of Delights, Alfresco, Exodus, Alchemy, Coastival, Free Rotation.
