Step inside ‘Jambo Cinema’ and experience Uncle & Aunty Bansal’s Indian-Kenyan 1980s era living room. Guests are invited to explore the room, only if they take off their shoes first. Experience this authentic living room with original memorabilia, photographs, items and Bollywood VHS films reflecting Indian families at the time. This project is informed by the personal experiences of curator Dawinder Bansal who grew up in her parents’ corner shop which sold electrical supplies and also rented VHS video films to the newly arrived and established Indian and Pakistani migrant communities in Wolverhampton. Jambo Cinema is a partner commission Creative Black Country Country, Funny Things Comedy Festival, Flatpack Film Festival Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Arts Council England
