Facing the Unknown - Communication - 19:30 to 21:00 on 18th October 2017
|At||St Michael's Church Crypt|
St Michael's Church Crypt
The third workshop of this series is: COMMUNICATION Real and virtual Can we cooperate without communicating? Can we communicate without cooperating? Am I listening or just waiting for a chance to talk? Are emails and texts more efficient than conversations? What on earth is a Meal of Conversations? Isn't a cute robot companion in the shape of a baby seal better for the elderly than having no company at all? Bring your questions and we will search for answers together. This event is free but we will be asking for donations at the end of the evening to cover the cost of venue hire. More information: "You cannot teach today the same way you did yesterday to prepare students for tomorrow." Filling heads with facts is already pointless and will be even more so in 15, 20 years time.
When they grow up our children will face problems never faced or identified before, they will need to invent new technologies and create new jobs. They will not be able or required to follow instructions and procedures, they will need to be inventors and independent thinkers. We do not know this future world but we need to prepare our children for it. How? Our best bet is to try and imagine the attitudes, habits of mind, mind sets, competencies that will help our children lead meaningful lives.
